The women in my family have always been. Strong advocates for social justice. They have fought for equality for all people, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. They have also spoken out against injustice and discrimination. My grandmother was a civil rights activist in the 1960s. She marched for voting rights and desegregation. She also worked to register black voters in the south. My grandmother’s activism inspired me to become involved in social justice work myself. My mother is a social worker. She has worked with children and families in need for over 30 years.
